The Coal City Theatre Department hosted its inaugural Athletes in the Arts performance on Sunday—a kick-off to Coalers Homecoming Week. The performance provided student athletes with an opportunity to showcase their talent beyond the playing field, court and wrestling mat. The students sang, danced, clapped, and provided the audience with something to talk about. Athletic Director Brad Boresi served as the master of ceremonies and even got in on the action with a little singing and dancing.

Coal City High School student Brody D’Orazio—a three sport athlete, actor and vice president of the Drama Club—proposed the idea of adding something new to start off Homecoming Week and it was a performance that allowed athletes to showcase their talent beyond the playing field. D’Orazio was one of the featured performers at the inaugural Athletes in the Arts performance on Sunday.
