Cathy Wright

GARDNER—Cathy Diane Wright (nee Merrill), 70, of Gardner, formerly of Braidwood, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Born March 5, 1953 in Vandalia, IL, she was the daughter of Richard S. Merrill and ImoJean (nee Haslett) Hannah. Cathy was a proud and dedicated homemaker who cherished spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She was an animal lover and enjoyed listening to all varieties of music.
Surviving are her husband of 34 years, Wayne E. Wright, who she married in 1988; three children: Jonathan M. (Doris Centano) Baker, of Gardner; Matthew L. (Christina Hofsteadter) Duering, of Manteno and Sarah L. (Jacob Burger) Duering, of South Wilmington; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, sister, Carolyn (the late Richard) Russell, of Braidwood; numerous nieces, nephews, and their families; and many friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Richard and ImoJean and brother, Richard Steven Merrill.
Private services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be directed to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Wounded Warrior Foundation, or any local animal shelter of your choice.
