City clerks serve as the official record-keepers and chief administrative officers for a municipality. Sarah Weaver, city clerk for the City of Braidwood, wears many hats, and wears them well. From presiding over city council and committee meetings, to serving as liaison between the public and government, to administering elections, Weaver keeps the wheels of the city in motion. The whirlwind doesn’t phase her. She’s up to the challenge. At the Sept. 9 Braidwood City Council meeting, Weaver was sworn in for another term as city clerk. She has maintained the position since July 25, 2023. Born and raised in Braidwood, Weaver loves working so close to home. “I am grateful to work in the town where I was born and raised,” Weaver said. “I have the privilege of watching my kids grow up and attend the same schools I did.” Before becoming city clerk, Weaver worked at U.S. Bank, staying on after operations moved to Wilmington during the COVID 19 pandemic. She finds her current position at city hall interesting and challenging. In particular, she thrives on working with the public. “I enjoy helping people, paying attention to details, and making sure information is clear and easy to access.” Weaver said. “This role also gives me a chance to keep learning and growing in my work every day.” Amidst the hustle and bustle at city hall, most days at city hall fly by quickly. “My favorite part is that no two days are the same,” she said. “I enjoy helping residents, learning new things, and making sure city operations can run smoothly.” Since 2023, Weaver has gleaned knowledge and expertise in the inner workings of the city of Braidwood. Needless to say, Weaver is a master multi-tasker, though some days are more challenging than others. “My least favorite part of the job can be handling many documents or requests at once,” Weaver said. “But, I enjoy the challenge. And carefully managing the work helps make sure residents have the information they need.
