Darlene Goad

BRAIDWOOD—Darlene Goad (nee Harrop), 78, of Braidwood, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021 at home surrounded by her family.
Born April 13, 1943 in Braidwood, she was the daughter of William and Gertrude (nee Wagner) Harrop. On Nov. 21, 1964 she married Richard Goad at the Presbyterian Church in Braidwood. Together they made their home and raised their family in Braidwood. She worked as a florist at Bishops Greenhouse for 16 years, and enjoyed crafting, coloring and doing puzzles. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and dedicated her life to making their lives better.
Surviving is her husband of 56 years, Richard Goad; sons, Anthony Goad, of Braidwood and Jeff (Rhonda) Goad, of Rochester, IL; daughter, Lisa (Jerry) Summerland, of Mazon; her pride, her joy, her only grandson, Jace Summerland, along with her beloved grandpets, Ginger and Stormy; sister, Roberta (Joe) Kocarek, of Braidwood; brother-in-law, Steve Bolatto, of Braidwood; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, William and Gertrude Harrop; brothers, Richard Cermak and William Harrop Jr. and sisters: Theresa Krull, Mary J. Bolatto and Gertrude Erickson.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
