David L. Anderson

JOLIET—David L. Anderson, 72, of Joliet and formerly of Gardner, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020 at AMITA Health St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Born Sept. 27, 1947 in Streator, IL, David Lee was a son of Lester J. and Hulda A. (Nelson) Anderson. He was raised in Gardner until moving to Joliet, where he graduated from Joliet West High School with the class of 1965. David went on to honorably serve in the United States Army, and was stationed for 15 months in Thailand during the Vietnam Conflict. He made his career with Caterpillar Tractor Company in Joliet, and retired after 30 years of service.
A man of quick wit, and a great sense of humor, David was a private man who loved to read, was a coin collector, and great car enthusiast. He was a wonderful son to his mother, and cherished spending time with his nieces and nephews.
Survivors include his siblings: Kay Jensen, of Morris and Danny (Janet) Anderson, Karen (Thomas) Perkins and Karla Anderson, all of Gardner; nieces and nephews: Terry Jensen, Brian Jensen, Gena (Chris) Hillman, Jeff (Jodi) Anderson, Matt (Roxanne) Anderson, Todd Perkins, Kali Perkins and Tyler Perkins, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Hulda Anderson.
Cremation rites have been accorded, and a private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Preferred memorials may be made as gifts in David’s memory to the Gardner Fire Protection District, 206 N. Depot St., Gardner, IL 60424 or to the Gardner American Legion, 426 Industry Dr., Gardner, IL 60424.
