Diane Gombash

MOMENCE—Diane Kathleen Gombash, 79, of Momence, IL, formerly of Worth, IL, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Arcadia Care in Morris.
Born July 18, 1942 in Glendale, CA, Diane Kathleen was a daughter of William Baynes and Bette Mae (Schenck) Baynes-Whetzal. She was raised in Warrenville, IL, graduated from Wheaton Central High School, and attended Spencerian College in Milwaukee, WI. Diane worked for the Frito Lay Company in Downers Grove until she retired in 1998, after nearly 30 years of service as an executive secretary.
She was very proud to be a long time member of the Warrenville VFW Post 8081 Auxiliary due to her father's service in the military. Diane was a musically gifted person who would sing in many city variety shows as a young woman, and played the piano for many years. Diane also took great pleasure in flower gardening and going fishing with her husband, Frank.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary (Bob) Mister-Keene, of Sandwich; four step-children: Frank (Lucy) Gombash, of Texas; Cindy (Dave) Nunn, of Florida and Lisa Riebe and Steve Gombash, both of Morris; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two brothers and six sisters: Marie Wyatt, Janelle (Gary) Williams, Mary Roberts, Lori (Dean) Rinehart, Robin (Bob) Wilt, Karen Schumacher, John (Pamela) Whetzal III, and Bob Whetzal; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, William Baynes and Bette (John, Jr.) Whetzal; her husband, Frank Gombash, on May 2, 2022; one son, Brian Loney, and two sisters, Judy Wentz and Patti Stauffer.
The family will receive friends for a visitation on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Reeves Funeral Home, 75 N. Broadway Street, in Coal City from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A funeral procession will immediately follow the visitation for Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood for committal services at 1:30 p.m.
