Fall Fest returns with two evenings of fun

The village of Coal City will host its third annual Fall Fest to include an evening of fundraising and fun.

The agenda for the Saturday, Sept. 16 event is being organized by the Coal City Park Board and will include a kick-off event on Friday, Sept. 15, as Bob’s Advanced Auto & Tire will open its parking lot to the community for music and dancing.

On Saturday, activities will get underway at 3 p.m. with a car show along South Broadway from Campbell Memorial Park north to Oak Street—further north if necessary to accommodate vehicles. The display of vehicles both old and new will run until 6 p.m.

The Megan’s Mission 5K, a fundraiser to support childhood cancer research and advocacy, will step off at 6 p.m. from the Babe’s Tap. Registration for the 5K can be completed on-line at runsignup.com/RaceIL/CoalCity/MegansMission.

Entertainment for the evening gets underway at 7 p.m. with Retro Circus playing until 9 p.m. in the parking lot at Bob’s Advanced Auto & Tire. Local band Bad Choices will then take the stage and play until 11 p.m.

The Park Board has also scheduled a touch-a-truck event and inflatables for the kids.

There will be food vendors, a 50/50 raffle and more activities still being finalized.
