Diamond Mayor Terry Kernc will continue her service to the Illinois Municipal League’s [IML] Board of Directors.
Kernc was re-elected Saturday to a vice president’s position of the statewide organization representing communities throughout Illinois.
Kernc was first elected to serve on the IML Board of Directors in 2013, and has maintained her position as a vice president since that time.
Founded in 1913, IML has worked continuously for the benefit of all 1,298 municipalities in Illinois to provide a formal voice on matters involving common interests. IML serves as the statewide lobby and education organization focusing on the people, so municipalities can have a powerful resource and voice in Springfield.
IML is a not-for-profit, non-political association powered by a board comprised of 36 vice presidents.
“With all of our communities facing significant issues due to the effects of COVID-19, now is the best time to work as one body for the benefit of all 1,298 cities, villages and towns in Illinois,” said Kernc. “I am honored to be elected to serve in this statewide role for the benefit of my community and the state as a whole.”
At its meeting in Chicago last weekend, the IML membership unanimously elected Vandalia Mayor Ricky J. Gottman to serve a one-year term as president. Also elected were Decatur Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe as first vice president and second vice president is Catherine Adduci, village president of River Forest.
