Ruth Laux

BRACEVILLE—Ruth Marie Laux, (nee Gosnell), 81, of Braceville, IL, passed away Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home in Joliet, IL.              Born Feb. 18, 1936 in Chicago, IL, Ruth was the daughter of Donald Roe and Mildred F. (nee Hammon) Gosnell. Ruth worked many years in the trucking industry, working for East Texas Motor Freight (ETMF) the majority of the time. She attended Braceville United Methodist Church where she took special interest in the kids in JAM and also volunteering. Ruth loved Girl Scouts, gardening, butterflies, bowling and collecting angels.  She enjoyed ballet dancing and ballroom dancing and even performed in ice skating shows. Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas were her favorite holidays.  She was an avid Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed the friendly wagers on the Bears/Packers games with her favorite brother-in-law, Ken.  
Surviving are two sisters, Diane Brandt, of Chicago and Alice (Ken) Pynaker, of Union Grove, WI; two brothers, Robert (Beverly) Gosnell, of Winston-Salem, NC and Ross (Letitia) Gosnell, of Cape Coral, FL; seven nieces: Julie, Michelle, Lana, Letitia, Kathy, Susan and Virginia;and seven nephews: Christopher, Stephen, David, Donald E., Donald R., Eric and Marc.  
Preceding her in death was her husband, Bob, who she married Nov. 30, 1985 in Las Vegas, NV and brother, Charles Gosnell.  
Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial visitation will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory, Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017 from 2-6 p.m.  Memorial service will be at the Braceville United Methodist Church in Braceville on Monday, Dec. 11, at 10 a.m. Inurnment will follow in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.              In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her name may be directed to Braceville United Methodist Church.
