Tommy Hess

Tommy Marvin Hess, 74, passed peacefully at Joliet Area Community Hospice on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019.  
Born Sept. 22, 1945. Fred and Helen (Paige) Hess in Dixon, IL. Aside from the years spent in the Army, Tom lived most of his life in the Joliet area; having grown up in Shorewood, and attending Joliet Central High School. He was an exuberant, friendly guy who was never short on stories to share with an available audience. Tom worked in the construction and labor trades his entire life, and made many lifelong friends along the way.  
Those left to mourn Tom are three daughters: Jill (Jeff) Harsh, of Adel, IA; Renee (Kenny) Anderson, of Phoenix, AZ and Danielle (Mike) Esposito, of Wilmington; 11 grandchildren: Ashley, Kylie, Kirsten, Trevor, Nolan, Khiah, Breann, Michelle, Michael, Christopher and Ethan; and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents, his loving sister, Janet Sheppard and beloved son, Brian Thomas, who took a piece of Tom’s heart with him.  
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory, 401 E. Main St., Braidwood on Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 3-7 p.m., with family present. Private interment will be at a later date.
