Wilmington gains another Hall of Fame coach

Todd Lockwood (standing, second from left) was inducted into the Illinois Track Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame Saturday, Jan 11. Standing by his side while receiving the award was his family: wife Ruth, sons Brett (left) and Drew, and grandchildren Audrey (left) and Harper.
On Saturday, Jan. 11, Todd Lockwood was inducted into the Illinois Track Cross Country Coaches Association hall of fame.
Coach Lockwood has served as a track and field coach for 45 years at Reed Custer and Wilmington High and middle schools.
Lockwood has coached numerous individual state medalist, school record holders and team trophy winners. With all the success of his athletes, it’s not a surprise that he was voted into the hall of fame.
What makes Lockwood special is that he has an incredible ability to connect with his athletes and act as a mentor while working with them. Todd makes sure his athletes feel respected and learn that a PR (personal record) is incredibly valuable.
Todd will be starting his 46th season as a coach in the spring. If you see this hall of famer, feel free to congratulate him on this life time achievement!
