"This is really a difficult day, it's something that I didn't want to see happen," Jennifer Brooks said as she watched demolition crews take apart a century old building her father, Neal, has owned for the past 23 years. Brooks said it wasn't an easy decision to tear down the building at 595 S. Broadway, but the cost to make the needed repairs was just to high. Patrick Clark Excavating of Braidwood was hired to bring the building down and that's just what he did on Aug. 28. Constructed in the 1890's, the building housed numerous businesses over the years, the most remembered was Jacino's Drug Store. Photos by Ann Gill
