The Braidwood Lions Club will again be participating in the Annual Lions of Illinois Foundation Candy Day Fundraiser.
Club members and volunteers will be holding a canister collection day on Friday, Oct. 11, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the street corners of Rt.’s 113, 129 and 53 in Braidwood.

Braidwood Lions Club selling Christmas Trees

The Braidwood Lions Club is holding its annual Christmas Trees Sale fundraiser.

The club’s stand is located in the Whitmore Ace Hardware parking lot in Braidwood. Balsam trees ranging in height from 6 to 9 feet, along with small and large size decorated greenery wreaths, grave blankets, grave pillows, crosses, swags, sprays and various artificial greenery decorations will be for sale.

Braidwood Lions Summerfest was like, totally awesome

Throwing back to the beginning, the Braidwood Lions celebrated the 42nd Annual Summerfest with “An 80s Rewind” theme.

And, despite a storm that shut things down a little early on Friday night, the four day event proved to be totally tubular.

The festival kicked off on Thursday with a gnarly rock and blues dance party thanks to DJ Roy Gregory, while the food court, carnival rides, beer garden and bingo left folks enjoying themselves to the max.

The Braidwood Park District is working on improvements at the Lions Kiddie Park, thanks to efforts by the Braidwood Lions Club to raise funds to update the equipment that keeps those youngsters happy.

That famous yellow trailer is back at Whitmore Ace Hardware.

The members of the Braidwood Lions Club spent this week getting set for this year’s Christmas Tree Sales, an annual tradition spanning four decades now for the members of the Braidwood chapter of the service organization. The annual sales kick off on Friday, Nov. 25, the day after Thanksgiving.

Club Secretary Josh Bolatto said the Lions have been working diligently as the busy holiday season approaches.

Rain can dampen the fun at Braidwood Lions Summerfest

Mother Nature took it literally when the Braidwood Lions opted for a tropical theme for the 41st Annual Summerfest.

Amid humid and sometimes steamy weather, the skies opened up a few times to drench festival goers, with a 15-minute downpour on Sunday afternoon that halted the carnival—but only briefly.

Summerfest took place at Old Smokey City Park on July 14-17, this year’s theme “A Tropical Extravaganza.”

While the brief rains left some muddy puddles in the midway, it didn’t stop the fun.

Braidwood Lions gear up for Candy Day

The Braidwood Lions Club will once again be participating in the Annual Lions of Illinois Foundation Candy Day Fundraiser.

Club members and volunteers will be holding a canister collection day on Friday Oct. 8, 2021 from 3-6pm on the street corners of Routes 113, 129 and 53 in Braidwood.

As a token of appreciation, all donors will receive a special roll of Lions’ Candy Day candy.

Braidwood Lions Summerfest a 'roaring' success

The fun was back at Old Smokey City Park in Braidwood with the return of the 40th Annual Braidwood Lions Club Summerfest on July 15-18.

After a year hiatus due to the pandemic, the festival returned complete with all the fun and games, including carnival rides, live entertainment, and more. This year's theme was "The Roaring 20s."

Summerfest is the Braidwood Lion’s largest fundraiser of the year.

The club serves the Braidwood, Shadow Lakes, and Godley communities with fundraising projects and efforts.

Braidwood Lions ready for summer in the park

The Braidwood Lions Club is prepping for the return of some family-friendly events as the weather begins to warm up.

The Lions will again host a Junk in the Trunk and Farmers Market event, in conjunction with what the club is calling the “Lions Family Sunday FunDay” on several dates throughout the next six months.

And, the club said, they’re on the lookout for vendors.
